All of our raffia reed bags are handmade in Madagascar using raffia palm, a renewable and sustainable raw material. Production is all by family run cooperatives and we absolutely know that no children are involved in their manufacture. The bags are all 'fair trade' and prices are mutually agreed with the manufacturers. The production of these bags and baskets genuinely and directly supports families in a very poor country.
